The Committee considered a report which provided an update on the collaborative work in Primary Schools to plan lessons and share resources for the new Agreed Syllabus for teaching from September 2020. The report also provided an update on the work of Teachers in High Schools who had continued to teach Religious Education and Religious Studies examination courses during the Covid-19 school closure.

The Committee was informed that during school closure as a result of Covid-19, Religious Education Teachers had continued to deliver the Religious Education curriculum remotely. Remote learning platforms that Schools had used included Google Classroom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams and Zoom. Some had also used voice over programmes such as Screencast O Matic to record a narrative to go with PowerPoint presentations.

The Committee was further informed that the National Association of Teachers of Religious Education had published on its website some guidance issued by The Department for Education. The guidance issued was for schools in order to support their planning for full opening in September 2020. The link for the publication was as follows: https://www.natre.org.uk/news/latest-news/guidance-for-full-opening-of-schools-implications-for-teachers-of-re/
