Emma Lauder informed the Committee that it had been a very busy time for Secondary Schools recently as they had been grading GCSEs and A Levels due to exams not currently running due to Covid. Emma explained that last year Schools put forward a projection and a prediction as to what they thought the student may achieve. This year however, evidence was required to show that they would achieve those grades. Schools had been working in different ways, some had done various mini tests and some had done big exams. Cross-moderation with various Schools had taken place to ensure consistency with grading.

Angela Doherty on behalf of Mirela Temo, NQT and Ethnic Minority Achievement Adviser, provided the Committee with a presentation which outlined the progress of the phases of the implementation of the new Agreed Syllabus 2020-25, the schemes of work, support for Schools and proposed steps moving forward.

Angela Doherty provided the Committee with an update and went through the changes that had been made.

The Committee was informed that the review was necessary to ensure that the Constitution included all recommended information from NASACRE, met legal requirements, was clear on roles and responsibilities and promoted effective practice.

RESOLVED: That

1. Ealing SACRE recommend to Council that the proposed revised Ealing SACRE constitution be adopted.

*The Church of England Group, Teachers’ Associations Group and the Groups Representing other Religious Denominations all voted in favour. The Local Authority Group did not vote on this item.
